Pause… and let your response come from clarity, not impulse
In yoga, awareness is not limited to the mat — it flows into every action of life. One of the most transformative ways to live yoga is by practising pause.
A pause is that subtle moment between impulse and action — between breath in and breath out, between hearing and responding. It’s a sacred gap where awareness lives.
When we begin to pause — before reacting, before replying, before rushing — something shifts. The chitta (mind-stuff) settles, and we respond with clarity instead of conditioning. In that space, our buddhi (intellect) awakens, helping us act with intention rather than emotion.
This is the essence of mindfulness and yoga in daily life — the union of awareness and action. Just as we hold a pause between breaths in pranayama, we can hold a pause between thoughts and reactions. That tiny stillness can change the quality of an entire conversation, relationship, or day.
So today, practice this simple sadhana
Before sending a message — pause.
Before reacting to someone — breathe.
Before you start your next task, please be sure to centre yourself.
Each pause reconnects you to the present — the real seat of yoga.
I’ve noticed that whenever I pause — even for a breath — my response softens, and life feels more spacious. This simple practice has become a quiet reminder that yoga begins in awareness, not in movement.
Yoga is not about how much we do, but how deeply aware we are while doing.
